The first day of school (September 5!) is less than a month away. As if adjusting to an earlier bedtime and morning routine isn’t hard enough, some of you will also have to prepare for a different commute due to service changes on some subway and bus lines. To help you plan ahead, we’ve compiled a list of some of the upcoming service changes that are expected for the 2024-25 school year.

B & Q subway line
- Both the Brighton Beach-bound B trains and Coney Island-bound Q trains will skip the Church Avenue station in Brooklyn
- B trains will make local stops between Prospect Park and Kings Highway in both directions.
J & Z subway lines
- Jamaica Center-bound J & Z lines will skip Cypress Hills through early 2025
- Jamaica Center-bound J & Z lines will skip 85 St.-Forest Pkwy. through early 2025
- Manhattan-bound service at 75 St.-Elderts Ln. will be restored
- The Manhattan-bound platform at Woodhaven Blvd. will reopen
7 subway line
- Flushing-bound 7 train will skip 82 St.-Jackson Hts. and 111 St. for the first few months of 2025
Bronx bus changes:
- Southbound Bx10, Bx20, BxM1, BxM2 and BxM18 stops along Henry Hudson Parkway from W. 237th St. to Independence Ave. are closed through November 2024
- Southbound BxM11 buses are detouring from E. 177th St. at Bronx River Parkway to Bruckner Blvd. at Sheridan Blvd. until November 30 (no stops will be missed)
- Southbound BxM10 buses are detouring from E. 177th St. at Sheridan Blvd. to Bruckner Blvd. at Sheridan Blvd. until November 30 (no stops are missed)
- Southbound BxM6 buses will be detoured from the Cross Bronx Expressway Service Rd. at E 177th St. to Bruckner Blvd. at Sheridan Blvd. until November 30 (no stops will be missed)
- Northbound Bx27 stop on Soundview Ave. at O’Brien Ave. is closed through 2025
Brooklyn bus changes:
- B16, B35, B43, B67, B68 and B69 buses may experience delays because of construction near the Jackie Gleason Depot from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. through Fall 2024 (no missed stops)
- Westbound B45 stop on Joralemon St. at Court St. is closed through April 2025
Manhattan bus changes:
- Westbound M106 stop on 5th Ave. at W. 106th St. will be bypassed through November 2024
- Northbound M104 stop on Broadway between W. 84th St. and W. 85th St. is closed through early 2026
- Eastbound M66 stop on W. 65th St. at Columbus Ave. is closed through 2026
- Westbound M31 and M57 stop on E. 57th St. at Madison Ave. has been relocated through early 2026
- Southbound M7 and M20 stop on 7th Ave. at W. 34th St. will be bypassed until November 15
- Northbound M15 stop on Water St. at Broad St. is temporarily closed through December 2025
- Northbound M11 stop on Amsterdam Ave. at W 65th St. is closed through 2026
- Southbound M11 stop on Columbus Ave. at W 66th St. has been relocated through January 2027
- Southbound M1, M2, M3 and M4 stop on 5th Ave. at W. 106th St. will be bypassed through November 2024
Queens bus changes:
- Eastbound Q32 stop on Roosevelt Ave. at 61st St. has been temporarily relocated through May 2025
- Northbound Q3 stop on 148th St. at 150th Ave. has been temporarily relocated to 150th Ave. at 148th St. through December 2025
Staten Island bus changes:
- Southbound SIM8, SIM25 and SIM31 stop on E. 57th St. at Madison Ave has been relocated through early 2026
