Two-bedroom co-ops in Fort Greene can cost well over one million dollars, but this affordable housing lottery will allow seven families to be homeowners for significantly less. It’s for two buildings at 550 Dekalb and 55 Carlton Avenues in Brooklyn.
The lottery has one one-bedroom and six two-bedrooms. The one-bedroom will cost $250,112. The two-bedrooms range from $293,889 to $315,544. Families who make between $82,049 and $184,470 are eligible.
Buyers will be required to put 3% down, which is significantly less than the typical 20% downpayment most co-ops require.
The buildings are located in Bed-Stuy and Fort Greene. Both neighborhoods are packed with restaurants and cultural spaces, many of them set near parks. The homes feature high-end appliances, countertops and finishes.
This lottery closes on May 5. You can apply online here or by mail. Directions to apply by mail are in the previous link.
