Earlier this year, we did some reporting on how affordable housing could be impacted by the election. Whenever we asked New Yorkers if they searched Housing Connect for lotteries, the frustration we often heard was that digging through the website to find places that cost less than $3,000 a month was too time-consuming or that website glitches discouraged them from checking it regularly. This comes as more than 52% of New Yorkers remain rent-burned.

Starting this week, Epicenter NYC will highlight affordable housing lotteries with rents under $3,000.

The Welz

This lottery is for a building in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. It has a total of 49 units, including studios and one- and two-bedroom apartments.

15 studios are available for $1,467 per month, and 18 one-bedrooms are available for $1,536 a month. To get these rates, lottery winners must be within a 60% AMI. If you’re unsure what AMI is or how to determine your AMI, this explainer can help you.

There are also apartments available for those who make up to 130% AMI.

Some of the building amenities are a rooftop terrace, gym, dishwasher, washer and dryer in units.
