Last week on the Epicenter Instagram account, we explained the controversy over lifting the charter school cap here in New York City. We asked you to weigh in and the feedback was mixed. While over half of the folks who commented said that they believe the cap should remain due to reasons like funding, inequity, and lack of special education—a little less than half were all for lifting the cap. Supporters of charter schools shared reasons like access to free and better alternatives without schlepping to other boroughs, performance results and simply based on their own experience at one. But I think one student who commented said it best, “Not all charter schools are equal, so due diligence is definitely needed!” Which can be said for all schools. If you missed it, check it out here.
