Epicenter’s tour of the Public Design Commission’s Archives
May 20 @ 5:30 pm – 7:00 pm
Epicenter-NYC invites you to a members-only archives tour of the Public Design Commission for the City of New York (253 Broadway). Since 1898, this agency, formerly known as the New York City Art Commission, has reviewed the design of all permanent works of architecture, landscape architecture, and art proposed on or over City-owned property.
With such a broad mandate, the PDC–made up of private citizens and government appointees alike–has weighed in on iconic NYC places and spaces such as the marble lions of New York City Public Library and of course, all monuments, sculptures and other artworks throughout the parks championed by Robert Moses in his time as Commissioner of Parks for the City of New York. Join Epicenter-NYC on this Power Broker-themed tour of the archives, led by PDC Senior Archivist Julianna Monjeau.
Epicenter strives to make our offerings diverse, accessible and reflective of the communities we serve. Please let us know if you cannot pay membership fees and still want to join, or if you need accommodation in some other way.
