Screening: Bring it to the People

October 21, 2022 @ 5:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Free

The question of whether or not to vaccinate has become one of the most pressing and polarizing of our time. Yet despite the critical importance of this debate, little has been done to understand the many individual concerns that underlie a range of vastly differing perspectives on the vaccine.

“Bring it to the People” introduces a unique and uncharacteristic perspective on the Covid-19 vaccination dilemma: Drawing from subject matter experts in the medical community and unconventional community leaders, the film underscores the complex issues that are preventing vaccination such as government mistrust, historical medical mistreatment, stigma, misunderstanding, health literacy, and misappropriation of resources. Taking a deep dive into multicultural communities of NYC that are not often represented in the media, the film taps into uncharted waters to understand polarizing perspectives on the vaccine, highlighting the medical ingenuity required to vaccinate some of the hardest-to-reach communities in NYC.

Join us for a free public screening of the documentary in Jackson Height’s Diversity Plaza. Dr. Harlem Gunness, the film’s producer, will be there to introduce the film and Epicenter will be providing Covid testing kits and access to other Covid and monkeypox-related resources.
