For the first time, the City University of New York (CUNY) system will personally invite all New York City public students who are on track to graduate to apply to a CUNY school. Seniors will receive information on how to apply to CUNY’s 11 colleges which would include information about CUNY’s net price calculator

CUNY chancellor Félix V. Matos Rodríguez says that NYC public school students have always had a home at CUNY but finding that home can be daunting. “We are giving seniors and their families the tools they need to find the right program at the right price, which will be especially helpful for those who are the first in their families to attend college and might not be familiar with how the process works,” he said in a statement.

In another effort to make CUNY more accessible, the $65 application fee was recently waived for all high school seniors applying for the fall 2023 term. It is unclear whether they will be doing this again in 2024, but there are several factors that can make an applicant eligible for a fee waiver. Learn more here.
