
On Monday, crossing guards from throughout the city held a rally in front of Tweed Courthouse to protest hundreds of positions that are being cut in order to slash $7.5 million from the city’s $43 million budget for crossing guards. This means that the 200 vacancies and 200 positions that were to be made available are being scrapped, leaving around 2,200 crossing guards to protect the almost 1 million children in our school system.
