Older New Yorkers are one of the most vulnerable groups needing affordable housing. In fact, according to the advocacy group LiveOn, 79% of senior households registered on Housing Connect have incomes of less than $54,350 a year.

We’ve reported on the struggles older New Yorkers face in finding affordable housing, so we want to share this upcoming lottery with our readers. If you are not a senior but know someone in need, please send them this article.

The lottery for 250 Winthrop St. in Brooklyn is currently accepting applications on Housing Connect. It has studios and one-bedrooms explicitly made for seniors.

Twelve studios are available for $1,483 per month, and 15 one-bedrooms are available for $1,552 a month.

The building is close to Prospect Park. Its amenities include a shared laundry room, air conditioning, package lockers and a rooftop terrace.

This lottery closes on Tuesday, Dec. 17. You can apply online here or get directions on how to apply by mail.
