Making It Here: How to enter and navigate the ever-changing workplace

Interactive talk on showing up, speaking up and standing out at work. Learn to pitch, ace interviews, build your digital presence and more.

August 14, 2025 @ 6:00 pm

Whether you’re starting your first internship or “corporate” job, or just trying to figure out what “professional” means in today’s remote, hybrid, or distributed world — this convo is for you. Join us for an interactive, real talk on how to show up, speak up, and stand out at work — and how to start paving your way up the ranks. We’ll break down how to craft a pitch, what it really means to be “camera-ready” for interviews or public-facing moments, and why your digital presence matters more than you think — even if your accounts are private.

The event will be hosted at The World’s Borough Bookshop, the first Ecuadorian-owned BIPOC Bookstore in New York City based in Jackson Heights, Queens. The World’s Borough Bookshop began as a passion project fueled by its owner Adrian Cepeda’s love for literature and a desire to see more representation of his culture and that of his neighbors in the books he read in school. Cepeda’s literary passion rose to global prominence through his Book Papi (Book poppa) TikTok. Since the launch of the shop’s digital presence, it has evolved into a platform dedicated to amplifying BIPOC writers. The World’s Borough Bookshop aims to create a vibrant community hub that showcases BIPOC entrepreneurs, artists, and creatives, providing them with the support and exposure they need to grow.
