If you go
Before hitting up any of these parties, vote if you’re eligible. Polls close at 9 p.m., but those in line at that time will still be allowed to vote. If you’re still unclear about the ballot proposals, we created a cheat sheet for you.
If you’re heading to a watch party:
- RSVP to be safe. A lot of venues hit capacity early.
- Subways and buses will be running on a regular weekday schedule, though (as you might have just experienced on Halloween) expect delays near major gathering spots like Union Square.
- Dress for the rooftop: the city forecast is a low of 45 degrees.
- Be kind. Whether the winner is Democrat Zohran Mamdani, Republican Curtis Sliwa or Andrew Cuomo, the former governor running as an independent after losing the Democratic primary to Mamdani, stop yourself from gloating or berating neighbors who voted for the other guy.
