The state primary elections are in just a few weeks, on June 25. While the primaries typically have a lower turnout than the general election, political analysts say this year’s primaries could have a big impact on who gets control of the state after the November election. Seven of the state’s 26 congressional seats are expected to be competitive races.
Many of our readers are in districts with key races: the 14th and the 16th Congressional Districts.
14th Congressional District

Important dates:
- June 15: Last day to submit an application to the Board of Elections (BOL) to get an early voting ballot, absentee ballot, and voter registration form. Get more information.
- June 15 – June 23: Early voting takes place.
- June 24: Last day to apply in person for an absentee or early mail ballot. Get more information.
- June 25: Last day to return early voting and absentee ballot. They can be delivered in person at the BOL or at your local polling place. Find your local poll site here.
- Last day to postmark absentee ballot. It must be received no later than July 2.
- Primary election day. Polls are open from 6:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
