Winter is a great time to visit museums and here’s one that sits by the sea. The Bruce Museum (no, it’s not about Springsteen) has been holding exhibitions in Connecticut since 1912. Its permanent collection includes works of the leading American Impressionists who once gathered in the nearby Cos Cob Art Colony, as well as objects and artifacts from the natural world. In fact, the museum has live animal marine tanks and the property affords picturesque views of Greenwich Harbor. The Bruce also schedules virtual visits for educational groups. On display through January is “RESOLUTE: Native Nations Art in the Bruce Collection”, with works ranging from antiquities to contemporary. Importantly, the show addresses the ethics around the acquisition of these objects. You can reach the museum in under an hour’s drive on a good day and enjoy a nearby meal at a range of local eateries, including an outpost of the Michelin starred Kissaki.
